On 9/30/2014, Tepco published the video record of Reactor2 taken by the crawler inspector.
It is a part of the coolant system, “S/C (suppression chamber)” of Reactor2. The inspector robot crawled on the outer wall of it.
The video record caught noise as it moved toward to the bottom of S/C to suggest the bottom of S/C is extremely radioactive for some reason.
Tepco is going to analyze the noise to estimate the actual radiation level.
From Tepco’s official statement, Reactor2 didn’t experience an explosion. However this inspection suggests something highly contaminated moved from the reactor to S/C.
Also, the robot fell off at 120° point on the outer wall for 3 times. The cause is not verified yet but there is a possibility that the outer wall of S/C has a significant damage on that point.
