On 12/17/2015, Tepco reported that radioactive material was directly released to the air from Reactor 2 and 3 by 3/15/2011 with relevant photos.
From their latest analysis, PCV (Primary Containment Vessel) of both of Reactor 2 and 3 are assumed to have been damaged enough to release the radioactive material by the day.
In addition to their analysis, Tepco published the photos of Reactor 2 and 3, which were taken from 7 to 9 am of 3/15/2011 (See photos attached below). These photos capture white “steam” released from Reactor 2 and 3. Tepco concludes that the steam is highly likely to be directly released from the upper part of PCV 2 and 3.
In this PCV of Reactor 2, Tepco also announced that they detected 100 Sv/h from early in the morning of 3/15/2011. Their data shows it kept nearly 100 Sv/h until 3/16/2011. No further data is released.
