(Before It's News)

Hundreds of unpublished and famous photos of the late Marilyn Monroe were put on display in Warsaw on Monday, a day after 50th anniversary of the star's death. The pictures were taken by late celebrity photographer Milton H. Greene. They are part of a collection formerly owned by a Chicago businessman, but he was accused of stealing millions from Poland, and the photos were transferred to the State Treasury as partial repayment. [Jolanta Rycerska, Warsaw Head of the Association of Polish Artists and Photographers]: “This exhibition is the result of amazing different coincidences. Sometimes they were difficult, but they led Marilyn Monroe to Poland, so for us it's a happy end. We are happy that we will be able to show the pictures to the public before they are sold. ” Other notable photos of celebrities are among the collection, including Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra and Audrey Hepburn. The exhibition is being held at the Association of Polish Artists and Photographer's gallery in Warsaw's old town. 60 images will be displayed until September 7. Poland plans on auctioning off the collection, which had its value estimated at $680000 in 2006.
