Royal Couple Wax Figures Drop in for Tea at British Embassy

Wax versions of Will and Kate were treated to afternoon tea at the British Embassy in Berlin on Thursday. The Royal pair dropped in before they end up in their new permanent home in Madame Tussauds wax museum on Friday. True to life and in line with diplomatic protocol, the waxworks were met by the deputy ambassador, Andrew Noble. [Andrew Noble, Deputy British Ambassador]: “I think it's just exciting. I mean I agree that they are very lifelike. And I'm sure an awful lot of people are going to see them and get very excited. That's one of the things about the members of the Royal family and about Madame Tussauds as far as I understand it. So I think people are going to be excited.” The figures are being exhibited as part of a campaign to promote Britain overseas, in the year William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, celebrates her 60th jubilee, and London is hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The popularity of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has been on the rise since their wedding in 2011, and, according to a spokesperson for Madame Tussauds, the museum is happy to respond to the growing demand. [Nina-Kristin Zerbe, Press Spokesperson, Madame Tussauds]: “At the end of the exhibition we have a terminal and we are asking the visitors there who they were missing in the exhibition and who they would like to see.
