In yesterdays action at Flushing Meadows, Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Serena Williams and Roberta Vinci all progressed to the quarter finals. Full Story: As we advance into day 9 of this years US Tennis Open, we catch up with all the major news from yesterday. First up, Andy Murray. Fresh from his victory in the Olympic Games, and gunning for his first ever Grand Slam title, the plucky Scott demolished Milos Raonic 6-4 6-4 6-2 in the fourth round. Perennial champion Roger Federer had it even easier though, getting a free pass to the quarter finals when his opponent Mardy Fish pulled because of health reasons. Serena Williams may be seeded 4th but is charging towards the women's title, obliterating Andrea Hlavackova 6-0 6-0. This rare result is known in the game as a “double bagel”. Elsewhere, second seed Agnieszka Radwanska became the highest seeded player to crash out of the tournament, losing 6-1, 6-4 to the Italian Roberta Vinci. Today, Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova are both in action in the women's quarter finals, with Novak Djokovic and Andy Roddick among the men competing in the 4th round.
