In today's NTD China New, Chinese premier Wen Jiabao is in Laos for the Asia-Europe Meeting. Reuters reports that Chinese leader Hu Jintao and his successor Xi Jinping are proposing an election for the Communist Party's Politburo, but the proposed reform is far from any form of real democracy. A women's rights activist, Mao Hengfeng, has been sentenced to 18 months in labor camp. Rights group Amnesty International says Chinese authorities are trying to silence dissidents ahead of the 18th Party Congress. A diplomatic row has erupted between the Chinese regime and Israel, after Israeli lawmakers expressed support for a petition urging for a UN probe into forced organ harvesting by Chinese state-run hospitals. A US Congressional Committee calls the Chinese regime a major cyber security threat, Bloomberg has reported. The Chinese regime is planning a new scheme to introduce more yuan investments into the country. A million Hong Kong residents are living in poverty, many forced to live in ultra-small subdivided spaces. A 14-year-old Chinese golfer is the youngest player to be invited to the Masters competition in Augusta, Georgia.
