Some Americans cast their ballots early ahead of next week's elections. Full story: The official US election polling day is Tuesday November 6th, but early voting is in full swing in nearly all 50 states. Election officials say they expect a record 40 percent of voters to cast their ballots early… although who they vote for is anyone's guess. The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll has both President Barack Obama and his opponent Mitt Romney nearly neck and neck. [Arlene Hollis, Early Voter]: “I identify with President Barack Obama. I think that he understands my people, my base, the middle class, I think he gets it. That's where he came from, so I think he understands me. I don't think Mitt Romney has any clue about it.” [Ronnie Aiken, Early Voter]: “I've just been a conservative and I think the way the government is going is too socialist and I just can't vote for that. I think that Mitt Romney is a businessman, he knows what's going on in the world and he's just going to be a better president.” In 2008 President Obama's campaign focused heavily on early voting leaving Republicans to pick up the slack, which is why this time around both candidates have stressed early voting in their campaigning.
