Video: Matt Sees How Much Faster Bolt-On Parts Make the FR-S on the Track

(Before It's News)

Sick of hearing about the Scion FR-S yet? Probably, but G4 TV isn’t, which is why they sent us to Spring Mountain with two of them! On the left, you’ll see a stock, manual transmission FR-S. On the right, you’ll see the car that CarGuyNation.com built for SEMA, which features some aftermarket upgrades that owners of the brand would be very likely to do to their own cars. It’s got bigger wheels with sticky Vredestein tires, Eibach Springs, DBA Brakes, a Borla Exhaust, a short throw shifter, and interior from Katzkin (ok, maybe owners won’t be doing that one).

While everyone is talking about forced induction on these cars, the truth is most owners won’t want to immediately void their warranties by going that route; this is how most people will probably modify their cars at first.

So, to the track we went, to find out how much time you could shave off a lap with a few basic modifications. Oh, and I did a whole bunch of  drifting too.

**Note** The Smoking Tire doesn’t edit these videos. We shoot them and deliver the footage to G4. Sometimes they do a great job, and sometimes it’s a bit of a mess when the editors aren’t really car guys. This is the latter. Still, it’s a fun video, but there are a few continuity mistakes, so be gentle.
