(Before It's News)

Canada faces a potentially “catastrophic” uprising unless aboriginal Canadians become full participants in natural resource extraction, a prominent think-tank warned Wednesday.

Former Canadian senior military officer Douglas Bland, who is now professor emeritus at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont., pointed to a “direct action” threat this week by a B.C. First Nation to block a copper mine’s expansion as a small sign of the kind of backlash he’s suggesting.

Bland, in one of two reports on natural resource development and First Nations published by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, argued that Canadians should take heed of the Idle No More movement that triggered cross-country protests earlier this year against federal government inaction on key issues.

Fascinating but not suprising.  There is roughly 1.4 million natives in Canada. Im assuming the world catatsrophic comes not from the numbers they have but the affect those numbers could have on the economy of Canada.  Small guerilla bands of natives could wreak havoc across the openess of Canada.  Targets would likely be oil and gas pipelines, tar sands, industry and the like.  I doubt much of such an inurgency would even reach the cities butif it did they would use what has been deemed terrorist tactics such as car bombs probably.  I dont think it will come to this however. -Mort

  • The natives here are trying to be peaceful, but it has been alledged that the RCMP have rats within the community. They also are suspected of lighting their own cars on fire to make the natives look bad – especially as there has been a major backlash AGAINST the RCMP for their thug-like tactics.
The systenm is corrupted as the Irving family (oil) are helping the Texas oil firm who want fracking rights on the Native’s territory. The provincial government (shocker) is siding with big oil and so is the judicial system.
I thank these natives for their courage!

I talk to the Canadian natives every opportunity. Their greivances are unheard, their suffering of abuse at the hands of the Crown and Church goes back centuries, who would blame them?
Nonetheless, I tell them to wait. They will be uplifted when this system collapses. That time is shortly to come.

  • The natural resources of this country belong to ALL of us , not just the aboriginals . The aboriginals need to stop holding the rest of Canada at ransom for incidents that happened hundreds of years ago ! You lost the war ! I do not feel that it is fair to pay for something my great great great great great great great great great gradfather MAY have done . Start taking care of yourselves like other peoples around the world have done after they lost a war !
