About That Wall

(Before It's News)

Hopefully nobody was taking all the rhetoric about finally completing a border wall too seriously. Via Trumpbart:

Federal funding for one of President Donald Trump’s premier policy proposals may be excluded from the House GOP’s budget for Fiscal Year 2017-2018.

House Democrats, along with a few House Republicans, are working around-the-clock to make sure funding for the estimated $12 billion border wall is not factored into the GOP budget, according to a report by The Hill.

“With Democrats united against new wall funding, it’s unlikely the Republicans have the votes to get it through and prevent a government shutdown,” The Hill report stated.

Trump had asked for $999 million for the wall, a drop in the bucket compared to the total cost (actually estimated to run as high as $40 billion). But not even that token amount will be included in the budget, lest there be a dreaded shutdown. Despite his party controlling both houses of Congress, the wall seems unlikely to materialize.

Now for the good news. Trump’s promised $trillion infrastructure spending spree — coming only 8 years after Obama’s $832 billion “stimulus” porkfest and only 18 months after a $305 billion 5-year transportation bill — could wind up in a ditch too.
