Last Thursday Kovas and I spent the afternoon tasting chianti at the Chianti Classico Grand Tasting – so much fun! 18 wineries were represented with a Classico, Reserva and some special bottlings each. We had our favorites, but Kovas and I were amazed at how good all of them were!

After our tasting we headed over to the Purple Pig for dinner. With the slogan “cheese, swine and wine,” it was no surprise that I loved it! We started off with some appetizers – Kovas tried several veggie appetizers, I tried a bone marrow dish. I don’t think I would have ordered this on my own, but one of Kovas’ co-workers recommended it. I’m glad I tried it because I really enjoyed it! Entrees and desserts paired with tasty wines completed our evening. The Purple Pig was a 2011 Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand winner, and it’s clear to see why. For a full recap of the dinner, check out Kovas’ post on 50 States of Wine.
