Nature can be a very harsh mistress. In a battle of survival of the fittest, and where only the strong survive, death can come unexpectedly from anywhere. This video proves that.
Hippos are actually very aggressive and very dangerous animals. You do not want to get caught in hippo territory. Unfortunately for this impala, that’s exactly what happened. While running for its life from a hungry lion, the impala becomes stuck in a mud pit. Unfortunately for the impala, that mud pit happens to belong to a hippo.
A hippo killing an antelope is merely an example of a food chain. Hippos can’t buy groceries or cook, so they eat what they can kill. I’m sure it’s quite violent when they slaughter cows for steaks and hamburger. And I’m sure it’s quite violent when they kill lambs for us to eat. Is the violence of being killed by a hippo much different than the violence of dieing in a factory or slaughterhouse. Killed by teeth versus killed by knife? Killed is killed. That’s why so many people are vegetarians, it lowers the demand for animal slaughter. Slaughter is a vulgar word. Hippo slaughters antelope. Man slaughters cow. Difference?
