Spaniards travelled from all over the country to the capital Madrid to express their frustration at the current government. Trade unions, pensioners, students, unemployed people and mortgage victims were among the 300 or so groups crying for political change in the country.

Demonstration’s organizers call for a general strike to take place on the 22nd of October just before the general elections take place to pressure the future leaders of the country.

And scared they are not because the dignity marchers have returned one year later to fill the iconic Colon Square in Madrid. The situation has not changed, one out of four people is unemployed and young people are forced to leave the country to find jobs.

The rain has not stopped tens of thousands of people from gathering here today from all corners today. The protestors’ cry is simple. They want bread, jobs, a roof over their heads and dignity.

Violence broke out at the end of the march between radical elements and police officers. Around 200 extremists rallied throughout the city centre and vandalized anything in their path.
