Senate Democrat AverageSee Full Scorecard10%, still suffering from the effects of his “exercise accident” and drunk on abortion industry cash, is holding up a bill on human trafficking because of a provision inserted in every spending bill that prohibits the use of federal money to counsel in favor of abortion or provide abortions. This restriction, though routine, is important in the provision of services to human trafficking victims who frequently are also involved in prostitution.

“Everybody can debate how that got in there, OK?” Reid told CQ Roll Call. “I believe that we should pass this human trafficking [bill]. I support this legislation, but we’re not going to have an abortion provision in the bill.”
Cornyn signaled on the floor that a cloture vote is expected on a bid to limit debate Thursday, although that would not be the regular order. Either way, it appears there’s no path to 60 votes.

“If they want to have time to turn to the attorney general,” then “we have to finish the human trafficking bill,” McConnell said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” His remarks, he said, were “not a threat.”
That Lynch even received a positive vote from the Judiciary Committee shows how irrelevant McConnell’s Senate has decided to be. As McConnell was hosting a matinee performance of Failure Theater over Obama’s patently illegal immigration scam, the Judiciary Committee was approving an Attorney General nominee who declared what Obama had done to be completely legal.
Right now we have to expect McConnell to cave on this issue like he has on everything else. If he does get his way, the next test will come in whether Lynch actually gets approved.
