U.N. likely to vote on Iran nuclear deal next week: diplomats | 15 July 2015 | The United States on Wednesday circulated a draft resolution to the U.N. Security Council that would endorse the Iran nuclear deal and end targeted sanctions but retain an arms embargo and ballistic missile technology ban ahead of a likely vote next week, diplomats said. U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power briefed the 15-member council on the draft document behind closed doors, said diplomats, speaking on condition of anonymity. Under a deal between Iran and major world powers in Vienna on Tuesday, Iran agreed to long-term curbs on a nuclear program that the West suspected was aimed at creating an atomic bomb. Iran has said its work is purely peaceful [unlike Israel's].
