As Erick has noted time and again, the GOP and its various entities are little more than employment security operations for a coterie of plunderers political consultants who insinuate their way into political campaigns, with the help of the various party organs, tear down the staff who brought the candidate to prominence, take over the campaign, suck it dry of cash, then blame the candidate when it goes south. Then they crawl back into the safe womb of the GOP, get paid with the hard earned dollars of contributors, and wait for another rube candidate to emerge.

At ground zero of Scott Walker’s failed campaign was one man: Rick Wiley. He is the guy who ran off Scott Walker loyalists. He is the guy who burned through hard money, money the campaign needed to live, with all the aplomb of a 19-year old sailor tasting the delights of Olongapo. Wiley was being paid the equivalent of $211,000 per year — in salary alone — by Walker’s campaign to destroy it. As they say, a parasite always kills the host.

If there were justice it world, Wiley would not be able to get a job a Dollar General. But we will have to wait for the Final Judgment for justice:

The manager of Gov. Scott Walker’s failed presidential campaign has landed a new job that will keep him involved with Wisconsin politics.

Rick Wiley has been hired to work for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. NRSC spokeswoman Andrea Bozek said Wednesday that Wiley was hired as a national voter contacts consultant, just as he was in 2014.

The NRSC works to get Republicans elected to the Senate, including Wisconsin’s Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) 50% who is seeking re-election against Democrat Russ Feingold.

Wiley drew scorn from some Walker backers after his presidential campaign ended after just 70 days in September. The campaign was spending about $90,000 a day and now faces an estimated $1 million debt.

Johnson said Tuesday he has no opinion of Wiley because “I don’t know anything about him.”

The problem the GOP has is a consultant problem not a messaging problem or a candidate problem. We are saddled with the same tired old incompetents who have no interest in the GOP beyond how much money they can suck out of it. Wiley’s record doesn’t indicate that he is stunningly competent at his job. Rather the opposite, in fact. It the GOP stopped recycling the failures and allowing them to run more good candidates in the ground, we might all be shocked at what we could accomplish.
