In another display of the decisiveness that saw him enter the GOP primary a favorite and quickly burnout, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker announced that he will endorse somebody next week. Via The Washington Post:

Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.), who has largely disappeared from national politics since the end of his presidential bid, said in a new radio interview that he will likely endorse either Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) or Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio) before Wisconsin’s April 5 primary.

“We’re probably going to make a decision this week,” Walker told AM 620 host Charlie Sykes in an interview recorded before Tuesday’s Arizona and Utah contests. “I think it’s probably best, in the next couple days, to do something after Easter, when it would have the maximum impact. Unlike my friend [Gov.] Gary Herbert in Utah the other day, I’m not going to wait until the day before. Probably in the next week or so we’ll, one, make a decision whether we’re gonna endorse or not, then secondly, specifically, who we’re going to get behind.”

It is hard to see why he’s being so cagey unless he’s decided to endorse no one:

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is the only viable alternative to front-runner Donald Trump in the Republican presidential primary, Gov Scott Walker said Wednesday.

“If you’re someone who is uneasy with the front-runner right now, there’s really only one candidate,” Walker said in a taped interview that aired on WTMJ Wednesday morning. “Ted Cruz is the only one who’s got a chance other than Donald Trump to win the nomination statistically, and my friend Gov. (John) Kasich cannot.”

Walker’s comments come on the same day Cruz and Kasich are hosting rallies in the Milwaukee area ahead of the state’s April 5 presidential primary. The governor has not yet made an endorsement and said he will decide after Easter.

If Walker really wanted to have an impact he would have endorsed Ted Cruz when Marco Rubio exited the race. All he is doing is allowing his uncertainty to fuel the un-dead John Kasich campaign that is meandering across the landscape and looking for brains to suck out of unsuspecting donors. An endorsement last week would have forced Kasich to see the writing on the wall. It would have energized the Cruz organization in Wisconsin and done a great service to the nation.
