President Obama delivered the commencement speech to Rutgers graduates on Sunday, and seemed to refer to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump as he talked about ignorance in politics.
Watch the short clip below:
“So class of 2016, let me be as clear as I can be: in politics and in life, ignorance is not a virtue. It’s not cool to not know what you’re talking about. That’s not keeping it real, or telling it like it is. That’s not challenging political correctness. That’s just not knowing what you’re talking about.”
Obama went on to remark, “And yet we’ve become confused about this.”
Boy that’s the understatement of the century. Trump-supporting Republicans really have become tragically confused about the qualities of a superior president. These were the same people who (rightfully) warned about Obama’s lack of knowledge and his inexperience. And now after 8 years of him, they’ve picked someone who manages to make Obama look like the most distinguished, intelligent, honorable president ever. Makes total sense.
Did any Republican ever imagine that at the end of Obama’s second term, they’d agree with anything he had to say? This is the political Twilight Zone. Thanks Donald Trump, for making Obama sound reasonable and sensible.
