White house put on lockdown because 'party balloons' floated over the grounds | 22 May 2016 | The balloons responsible for the heightened alert had landed on the North Lawn, the press office roof and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, according to NBC. While the agency noted there was not an official lockdown, press crews said they were temporarily restricted in their movements, NBC reported. Sunday's incident comes two days after the White House security zeroed in on a Toyota sedan filled with ammunition on Friday after an armed man brandished a gun at a Secret Service checkpoint.
