(Before It's News)

Former President George W. Bush sat down with the Today Show’s Matt Lauer to discuss his upcoming book, “Portraits of Courage“. Bush’s book features tributes to wounded veterans through his paintings and biographies of those who served. It didn’t take long for the conversation to turn to Politics as Lauer pressed the former president on Donald Trump’s foreign policy and strained relationship with the press.

It’s pretty clear that George W Bush isn’t aboard the “Trump Train” but he does suggest that we should take a man at his “word”, in reference to Donald Trump’s goal of uniting the people. He expresses mild disapproval of Trump’s treatment of the press, saying that “power can be very addictive”.

“I consider the media to be indispensable to democracy…Power can be very addictive.” Former President Bush

Bush’s number one concern on Monday morning was selling books, raising money and awareness for our wounded warriors, through his project the Military Service Initiative.

Growing out of President Bush’s own outreach and the ongoing work of the George W. Bush Institute’s Military Service Initiative, Portraits of Courage brings together sixty-six full-color portraits and a four-panel mural painted by President Bush of members of the United States military who have served our Nation with honor since 9/11—and whom he has come to know personally.
