FBI Collecting Facial-Recognition Images From DMV in 18 States (Video)
We Americans have already traded away much in terms of liberty and privacy in the name of national security. And as surveillance technology becomes ever more advanced, it may only be a matter of time before we live in a complete surveillance state. Take for example the fact that over 400 million pictures of American faces are stored in local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Of course, the FBI claims that it only stores criminal mugshots, conveniently omitting all the images held by local and state law enforcement agencies; which the FBI has easy access to in at least 18 states.
In the following video, Right Wing News looks at America’s growing surveillance state, and how it shows no sign of stopping. The elites have deliberately ingrained a culture of pervasive fear in its citizens, making it all too easy to continue to strip away our liberties; all for our own good of course.
It seems many Americans have become jaded by all the revelations about our surveillance state, and seem to almost accept it as a fact of modern life. When we accept the surveillance state as a part of life, the Deep State wins. It’s high time more people started pushing back.

G. Edward Griffin’s Need to Know reports:
In a US Congressional hearing, the FBI came under attack from both sides of the aisle for its use of facial-recognition software, because that violates citizen privacy and can lead to arrests of innocent people.
An official says that only criminal mugshots are collected, but it is known that the FBI also collects images from driver’s licenses, passports, visas, and security videos.
The agency now is seeking to access all state databases that have photos, and these contain images of about half the US adult population.
HOW THE FBI’S FACIAL RECOGNITION PROGRAM WORKS:
Facial recognition has been part of the FBI’s Next Generation Identification program for years. It’s a biometric method of identifying someone by comparing live capture or digital image data with the stored record of that person, typically used for security purposes.
This week, congress held a hearing putting the FBI program under the microscope. It came under a fierce bi-partisan attack from politicians on both sides of the aisle. They said using facial recognition software violates Americans’ privacy and leads to the arrests of innocent people.
It turns out that over 400 million pictures of Americans’ faces are stored in local, state and federal law enforcement databases.
It’s estimated that half of all adults in the U.S. are in the databases.
An FBI official said at the hearing, “The only information the FBI has and has collected in our database are criminal mugshot photos.” However, that doesn’t include databases held by local and state law enforcement agencies. Those include images from driver’s licenses, mugshots, passports, security videos and visas.
The FBI has agreements with 18 U.S. states that give it access to all of these databases. The agency is working on getting access to all state databases.
Utah Representative Jason Chaffetz said, “Like many technologies, used in the wrong hands or without appropriate parameters, it is ripe for abuse. It would be one thing if facial recognition technology were perfect or near perfect, but it clearly is not. Facial recognition technology does make mistakes.”
Do these people think we have no memory? Recall that in a hearing on March 12, 2013, Wyden had asked Clapper, “Does the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions, or hundreds of millions, of Americans?”
“No, sir,” Clapper replied.
“It does not?” Wyden asked, somewhat dumbfounded, since as a high-ranking intelligence committee member he knew otherwise.
“Not wittingly,” Clapper said. “There are cases where they could inadvertently, perhaps, collect, but not wittingly.”
Uh… What-E-Ver!!!! Now, just because some FBI official says, “The only information the FBI has collected in our database are criminal mugshot photos,” we’re supposed to believe him? Sorry, but DHS and Walmart have been in cahoots for years as you will learn in the video below.
Do you recall from the story earlier today titled, Billion Dollar Spy Agency You’ve Probably Never Heard Of, that the agency just so happens to have a headquarters that surpasses the U.S. Capitol in size, and has cameras and satellites so advanced that they can see a stick of butter from space? Don’t worry about it though… the deep state has proven themselves to be very trustworthy… right?!??!?! This is more of the same:
