(Before It's News)

We now know the investigation of the Russia-Trump brouhaha is now underway:

Carter Page, an early foreign-policy adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, said Monday that the Senate Intelligence Committee had asked him to preserve information concerning his Russia-related activities in 2016.

In a letter obtained by Business Insider dated March 5, Page thanked Sen. Richard Burr, the Republican chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Sen. Mark Warner, a ranking member of the committee, for their “recent correspondence regarding information that you might at some point desire for ongoing investigations into the 2016 U.S. election.

In his letter to Warner and Burr, Page said he was “eagerly” awaiting “your committee’s call to help finally set the record straight following the false evidence, illegal activities as well as other lies distributed by Mrs. Hillary Clinton’s campaign and their associates in coordination with the Obama administration, which defamed me and other supporters of the Trump campaign.”

Of everyone likely to come under scrutiny in this episode, my vote is on Carter Page as “Most Likely To End Up In Fort Marcy Park.” He doesn’t seem like a particularly stable individual, his activities are by far the most suspect — I mean Manafort seems to be nothing more than a money launderer — and he’s most likely to go off the reservation when under pressure. If he’s talked to the FBI he’s more than likely already a dead man walking because in the course of the last week he first denied he’d ever met the Russian ambassador to the United States (this guy seems to be sort of an Invisible Man) and then admitted he had met with him. It is inevitable that he’s going to lie to an investigator if he talks to one. Which brings me to my next point.

I hope he invests in a damned good lawyer who can make him keep his mouth shut. Otherwise he’s in deep doo-doo.
