The World Cries foul over Gaza but no action on Christians slaughtered by ISIS
By the Watchman Dana G Smith
“When Evil is upon Mankind, you know the devil is loose in the souls of men intent on fulfilling his desires*”
There is an astounding lack of concern or voice; I should say, on the fact of Christians being slaughtered in the Middle East during the past violence there. In particular the Assyrian Christians, who date back to the time of Christ and the Apostles, specifically have been targeted. There have been other voices as well crying foul over what many deem as a “lack of concern” for believers, that is; Christians. For instance in Africa the young girls many of whom are predominately Christian were taken by Boko Haram and they are still in captivity. Nothing seems to have been done and for all intents, these young girls forgotten. As a result concerned citizens worldwide took to the streets about this in a series of “Church rallies across America “as detailed by International Christian Concern” and written about by Warn Radio.
But the forgetful Americans, Europeans, and others who have been taken in by the Gaza-Israel war apparently used that to forget about the Christians who have been slaughtered by Islamic jihadist’s. As Israel fights for her life and her citizens against the same kind of Jihadist’s, we find that ISIS who has been slaughtering people; Christians abundantly and Muslims a few; also said they would back Hamas in its war against Israel. This puts the real eye opener as to whom Hamas really is like! Certainly not like Israel who is a democracy, and has both Arabs and Jews living under its banner. But on July 24th the House of Representatives passed a resolution about “protecting the religious freedom of minorities in Iraq”! We find it picked up by AINA.org.
Resolved, That the House of Representatives–
(1) reaffirms its commitments to promoting and protecting religious freedom around the world and providing relief to minority groups facing persecution;
(2) calls on the United States Department of State to work with the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Iraqi central government, neighboring countries, the diaspora community in the United States, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and other key stakeholders to help secure safe havens for those claiming amnesty in Iraq; and
(3) respectfully requests the addition of a Special Representative for Religious Minorities to be included in Prime Minister al-Maliki’s newly reconstructed government. Read it here on AINA.org
Now we also have the Ambassador Samantha Power, the U.S. Representative to the U.N. condemning the Islamic state in Iraq and the Levant or ISIS. She specifically targeted the recent attacks by ISIS on Sinja and Tal Afar in the Ninevah province of Iraq. In addition to this, we also find that the government of Iraq who has been unable to do anything about ISIS has told the Kurds who are fighting ISIS they would provide Air support against ISIS for the Kurds. The fighting and encompassing of ISIS into the major arenas of Iraq include taking over Iraq’s largest dam and a major oilfield. The group has also taken over a Syrian Military base in N.E. Syria. In this round of fighting there have been beheadings, slaughter, looting, rape, and pillage. Many Christians have fled, while others were killed; yet many Muslims stayed only to find out they were in danger as well. ISIS has a propensity to target minority Muslim groups, pressuring them to join ISIS and if they do not, they simply kill them.
We want to point out that AINA provides an Assyrian perspective in news reports from the Middle East. It has been one of the major informational sources regarding Iraq and the Assyrian community there of Christians and others who are in threat by ISIS. AINA also gives the latest plea from the leader of Iraq’s Yazidis who issues a distress call after ISIS brutalized their community.
August 3, 2014
Urgent distress call from the Prince of Yazidis
I appeal to Mr. Massoud Barzani, President of Kurdistan Region, and Mr. Fuad Masum, President of the Federal Republic of Iraq, and the Iraqi Government, and the Iraqi Parliament, and the Parliament of the Kurdistan Region, and the Arab League, and Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Mr. Barack Obama President of the United States, and the European Union and international community in general, and organizations and relevant international bodies:
I ask for aid and to lend a hand and help the people of Sinjar areas and its affiliates and villages and complexes which are home to the people of the Yazidi religion. I invite them to assume their humanitarian and nationalistic responsibilities towards them and help them in their plight and the difficult conditions in which they live today
Citizens of this religion are peaceful people who acknowledge all principles and humanitarian values and respect all religions, and never had enmity against any of their countrymen, and in the near past they even had a major humanitarian stand with their fellow residence of Mosul and Tal Afar, and today they desperately need their brethren’s help.
This humanitarian appeal I make on my behalf and on behalf of the people of this religion to come to their assistance and help the Yazidi people as soon as possible.
Prince Tahseen Said
Prince of the People of the Yazidi Religion in Iraq and the world
We join in the plea by all those concerned for their lives and families for help to come. ISIS is a leech on the map of humanity. They are godless and bring a bloody ideal to war in the region. They spread fear and will kill, rape, behead, or brutalize anyone who stands in their way; whether you are Christian, Jew, Muslim, or someone else; they hate all of you who oppose their agenda; which is worldwide domination!
