E-commerce is a business in which some companies offer other companies anything they need to help them sell their services and products on the World Wide Web. This includes providing a web server which will serve the company’s pages, in some cases, a web site design with catalogue pages, and the special solutions which will enable accepting, processing and confirming sales orders. It can be very hard to find an adequate hosting provider, especially now when there is a constant shift of available providers. This can make it even trickier to navigate. Because of all of the reasons above, I have done a bit of research about hosting providers. Today, I will share my findings about a web hosting provider called AltusHost.
AltusHost is a web hosting company based in Netherlands. The company was launched successfully in 2008 with a goal to provide web hosting services of the highest quality at the lowest rates possible – while at the same time emphasizing on customer satisfaction. The AltusHost Company controls many data centers all around Europe. Some of the locations include Amsterdam (Netherlands), Stockholm (Sweden) and Windhof (Luxembourg). Each and every one of these data centers is at minimum a Tier 3, and they have web servers which are located in cages or private suites inside the data facilities. AltusHost sets apart from their competition because of their on site location which ensures that all of the services they offer are in direct reach. All of the technology and hardware are managed by the organization itself, meaning that there is no need to worry about a third party involved. Since their founding in 2008, their client base has reached the number of 8,000, and it continues to grow. To sum it up, the company has not achieved a “boom” of any kind, but it has grown steadily over the past six years while constantly increasing the number of clients. This is not an overnight company and if we take the constant growth in account, it is probable that they will stay around for some time to come. The plans are very clear and simple and this is what I like. There are no gimmicks which is a huge relief as the shopping process is quite easy, compared to companies that offer cheap base plans with add-on options. Another appealing side of AltusHost is that they offer 24/7 technical support which is a must have for any web hosting provider. There are many services the company offers, but the three main are dedicated server hosting, VPS hosting and shared hosting.
There are four levels of dedicated server hosting which AltusHost offers. The company will handle all of the work around servers which eliminates the need for a third party – there is no need for clients to manage and fix servers on their own. All of the servers offered are Intel products and the lowest option available is an Intel Core i3-200 that comes with 4 GB memory and a hard drive, 500 GB SATA II. The price for this option is $149.95 per month. The second two options feature an Intel Xeon E3-1240 and level two Intel Xeon E3-1220 servers which have hard drive and middle ground memory options. The price range is between $199.95 and $249.95 per month, which is decent. The highest priced option features is the Intel Xeon E3-1270 that has 16 GB memory and comes with two 1,000 GB SATA II hard drives with a price at $299.95 per month. All of these options include reboot capabilities over IP and bandwidth of 5,000 GB.
AltusHost offers Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting that includes software installation, setup, 24/7 technical support and security monitoring. There are three types of VPS hosting AltusHost provides: Windows, OpenVZ and XEN. Each of these three include four different packages. The price for Windows VPS hosting can go from $29.95 to $74.95 per month and can have from 20 to 100 GB of hard disk space with RAM memory from 512 to 4096 MB, two-six CPU cores and a monthly bandwidth from 500 to 3000. OpenVZ hosting has a price range from $19.95 to $59.95 per month for 20-160 GB disk space, 512-4096 MB RAM with two-six CPU cores and premium bandwidth that can go from 1,000 to 4,000. The price for XEN VPS hosting can go from $24.95-$69.95 per month and its features include guaranteed RAM from 512 to 4096, two-six CPU cores, disk space of 20 to 160 GBs and premium bandwidth with a range from 1,000 to 4,000. Note that new offers may be available, so if you need more information, contact AltusHost directly.
The web hosting services of AltusHost are specifically suited for their shared hosting environment. The company guarantees that they will monitor its servers and server loads very carefully and with reliability, speed and quality for each and every customer who buys their services. The organization has its own equipment they use to operate on networks and servers – you don’t see this very often in the web hosting industry. There are four shared hosting packages available. The Wood package is the cheapest, with a price of $4.95 per month. It includes 100 GB monthly bandwidth, 5 GB of disk space and limited parked/add-on domains. The Bronze package costs $7.95 per month and has 10 GB of disk space with a monthly bandwidth of 200 GB. The Gold package costs $9.95 per month and includes a 15 GB of disk space with 300 GB of monthly bandwidth, the rest is the same as with the Bronze package. The most expensive shared hosting package offered is the Diamond package which costs $16.95 per month. It comes with 20 GB of disk space and includes 500 GB monthly bandwidth.
To sum it up, AltusHost provides some excellent benefits such as easy payment, reasonable prices and they also have a global partnership with Global Sign SSL. In my opinion, AltusHost seems like a stable and trustworthy E-Commerce Web Host. They had some troubles with hackers in 2011, but since then, they received nothing but positive feedback.
