Research in Motion, manufacturer of BlackBerry smartphones & tablets, fired its co-chief executives last week replacing them with RIM’s chief operating officer Thorsten Heins. How would Heins characterize his employers?
When meeting with the editors & reporters from New York Times on Friday Heins said, “We manufacture one of the best communications appliances in the world”.
Everyone doesn’t feel the same way. Last year, the share price of RIM plunged 75 %. The company occupied more than 50 % of the U.S. smartphone market. Now, the company possesses 10 %.
Thorsten Heins is clearly looking for a glorious comeback after the unpleasant experience of the company. In comparison to Apple & its iMac, RIM has emphasized on upgrade of its PlayBook operating system. The company is also focusing at e-mails which is a feature lacked by the original PlayBook. RIM is currently thinking about releasing BlackBerry-10 Operating System this year.
