(Before It's News)

Mobile users looking for the most vivid display will generally want to steer towards an OLED/AMOLED while those looking for the highest pixel density possible want one of the newer 720p LCD options that Samsung and HTC have been using. But what if you want both? You wait for Samsung’s new OLED displays using “Fine Metal Mask” (FFM) technology.

The OLED technology has allegedly allowed Samsung to break the pixel density limitation with OLED and push the new limit up to ~350ppi. For comparison’s sake, Apple’s “Retina” quality display on the iPhone is only 326ppi.

While etnews boasts of the newfound high-res OLED possibilities, no mention of how soon this new technology could hit consumer devices or the prices that would be associated with them were divulged. Consider this a hot topic to follow. LCD resolutions and OLED color reproduction. Sounds like the ideal “best of both worlds” situation if you ask us.
