Cellphones running on Android operating system are subjected to the risk of losing all data in their phones because of a security glitch that was discovered months back but was unnoticed until now. After discovering the glitch, Google did come out with a fix but did not make it public keeping them vulnerable to the glitch. The security flaw could wipe out music, photos and contacts as well.
User clicking a website’s link or apps embedded with malicious codes can activate the glitch and users may lose all their valuable data stored in the memory card. It can happen with most Android based phones that include Motorola, Sony Ericsson, HP and last but not the least Samsung.
Google denied making comments on this security glitch. Android versions that are subjected to this vulnerability include Jelly Bean, Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich. The Honeycomb version of Android OS is yet to be tested to be declared vulnerable.
