At CES Intel had confirmed that it was in a partnership with Nuance to give Ultrabooks ready-made voice recognition. And now the pr4omise is being fulfilled. The results are expected to be revealed at IDF in San Francisco with the launch of Nuance’s Dragon Assistant Beta. This will not just be a voice dictation engine like that in Naturally Speaking.
Users will be able to give instructions for common tasks like playing music, reading social network updates and scouring the web. The beta is expected to be commercially available soon and will form an intrinsic part of the software bundle that is available with the Ultrabook. This is expected to debut with XPS 13 this fall. Perhaps Intel would be well advised to also make its Dragon Assistant available to all PCs and not just the ultra-light laptops. Surely they would have thought of that. Perhaps there is something else up their sleeve?
