A small number of iPhone 5 owners on Verizon have had a not so nice welcome to iPhone 5 land – excessive cellular data use even when connected to WiFi networks. Apparently Apple has found and corrected the problem, though, as a new carrier update released late Sunday claims to fix the issue. VZW iPhone owners need only navigate to “Settings” > “General” > “About” and wait for a pop-up box to appear saying that carrier settings have been updated, after which a simple reboot sets everything in stone.
The iPhone 5 certainly hasn’t enjoyed a trouble-free launch. That said, despite various issues revolving around it’s camera, scuff-prone finish, WiFi issues, and now this, Apple is set to once again post record sales numbers for the next several quarters.
If you’re on VZW and were noticing the rampant data use mentioned above, give us a shout and let us know if this carrier update helps alleviate your problem.
