After the success of Droidcon 2011 in November last year, HasGeek has announced the 2nd edition of Droidcon, a novel international conference for the Indian Android Developer Community. Scheduled to be held in the MLR Convention Centre (Whitefield, Bangalore), the conference is expected to push the already buzzing environment that is evolving in India thanks to the announcement of Google Play’s seller support for Indian App developers in Android OS.
Last year, Droidcon 2011 saw approximately 550 participants, and almost 10% of it comprised of students. This apart, according to Kiran Jonalagadda – Founder of HasGeek, there was a surprising amount of participant influx from Tier II cities like Jaipur and Chandigarh. Zaina Bawa of HasGeek has stated that this time there would be on discussion pertaining to latest developments in Android – like gaming, near field communication, user experience and user interface challenges, Adruino board level breakthroughs, etc. among many topics.
Sessions have been earmarked to expose the developers about the advantages of using Android as the development kernel, and also the internal nitty-gritty of HTML5 and JavaScript – so as to enable Indian Developers (especially) create new apps for mobile devices and tablets etc. The organizers are targeting major luminaries of the Android developer world, spirited and buzzing developers in India, CEOs, CTOs and Chiefs of existing, well placed startups in India and other ancillary enthusiasts who have acknowledged the growth evident in Android development. While it is evident that participation numbers will climb appreciably, along with the widespread awareness and interest among the youth – what is more interesting is whether this schedule shall inflict a sudden spike in the number of student participants in this edition.
Lately, in the month of April we saw another similar event being organized – the Next Generation Android India 2012 between 25th and 27th of the month.
HasGeek is a web startup which organizes such technology conferences centered upon productivity of knowledge in such tech domains. It maintains a special techie job board and publishes its own code once in a while on GitHub. It is to be seen though, as to how much HasGeek understands the fiber of the Indian Technology scenario – and whether it would succeed in generating much awareness and interest in its endeavor!
