For the first time in its history, Twitter has blocked a user account citing display of illegal content as per the regulations of the host country as reason. A Neo Nazi group known as “Better Hanover” was axed with this decision as the group shared inappropriate content via the social networking platform.
Credible sources inform that due to certain inciting elements shared from the user account the German authorities had requested Twitter Inc. to block all relating content off “Better Hanover” and as of Oct 20th, 2012 users in Germany cannot view the content displayed by the group.
Sensitive information such as locations for holding demonstrations, overcoming police barricades and planning a raid was all part of what was being shared in the Better Hangover user account. There were further illegal implications such as incitement of young generation into Nazism and racism being openly promoted that led to the German and Twitter Authorities to block the account.
