For long we have been hearing rumors about the elusive Apple television set. Currently Apple only has a proverbial foot in the door inside the global television market with its set-top box. It has been rumored countless times that the Cupertino based company is working on a full fledged TV that will give other competitors in the market a run for their money.
However no substantial proof regarding the existence of this device has been made available yet. The company is keeping up with its usual tight lipped stance on the issue and has not said a word about this television set that everyone keeps talking about. By the looks of it, these rumors are not going to die down any soon. Infamous analyst Gene Munster predicts that the Apple television set will be released in November 2013, and that Apple will sell them like hot cakes.
Many other publications such as The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg have at times talked about a full fledged television set from Apple. Many market analysts have predicted to their customers that the fruit company is indeed coming out with a television set soon. Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray has been consistent in his notes to customers about the Apple TV set and once again he reiterates that very stance.
The Apple HDTV is expected to be released in November 2013. At this point in time not much is known about it. It is being estimated that the screen size of this television set may range from 42 inches to 55 inches. There has also been talk of other features such as the Siri personal assistant and synchronization with other Apple products such as Mac machines and iOS devices.
It is unclear whether Apple intends to discontinue the Apple TV set-top box which has gained it some relevance in the global television market. This nifty little box works wonders, though it is certainly not the product Apple wants to excel with in the market. It is considered more of a product that was developed as a hobby.
Gene Munster is of the view that an Apple television set will be priced around $1500 to $2000. On the face of it the price point may look like extortion as compared to the prices of conventional HDTV sets. Though if Apple ends up making a truly remarkable television set, the price point will easily be justifiable and people would buy it as if it were the last TV on earth.
