Can Lawyers Use Marketing To Get More Clients? Should They Test Online Marketing?

(Before It's News)

I have a lot of friends who are business coaches, many who are marketing gurus, a handful who are small business writers, but I don’t have too many friends who are lawyers.

Lawyers scare me. You need them, but they always find something “wrong” with what you’re trying to do. I say this jokingly of course – a good lawyer IS PAID to find every conceivable hole in the agreement you are trying to structure to protect you NOW and in the FUTURE. At a few hundred dollars per hour, for most lawyers, they’re not in the $25 – $50 an hour rates I’m used to dealing with for many projects.

One thing that I do know about MANY lawyers serving small businesses is that they get most of their business through word of mouth referrals. I wonder, however, could lawyers increase their business if they did more (or better) marketing campaigns?

My friend Nina Kaufman, writes at Ask The Business Lawyer.

Out of the thousands of folks who read her insight, are all clients? Of course not. But she’s never the less extending her brand and all she needs is some of them who read her insight, to be clients, for her to be successful.

Beyond just email marketing and blogs, I think that more lawyers should consider NURTURING their prospective clients. One of Infusionsoft’s thousands of customers is a lawyer and he’s a great example of a small business owner who has about a 100% close rate on each new business as by the time the new customers actually meets with him, he (the customer) has been fully educated in a nurture campaign.

Here’s another tool that you (if you’re a lawyer) might want to consider.
