(Before It's News)

Two Carnegie Mellon University professors, Raj Chakrabarti (systems engineering) and Anisha Ghosh (financial economics) have collaborated to launch one of its kind Massively Open Online Course (MOOC) platform for imparting Business Education. This MOOC Platform called ‘The Academic Financial Trading Platform‘ (AFTP) is aimed primarily at Indian MBA students and executives. This platform will serve to deliver a comprehensive & integrated syllabus of business studies to students all across the globe.

What will the students get?

Massively Open Online Courses have begun to gradually reshape the Education scenario. These social media fueled courses in full multimedia glory, offer video lectures and weekly assessments to students at negligible to no cost. Though similar to some earlier endeavors, the platform tries to impart ready-to-use tools in the face of global economic downturn which has eroded the job market. Furthermore, by collating valuable study material & distributing it free via the internet drastically brings down the cost of education.

Upon completion of such courses, the students will receive formal certificates for courses which include investments, macroeconomics and corporate finance. Additionally, students can monitor & track their progress with inbuilt dashboard, plus they will have a whole reserve of historical data of the US Stock Market to research & draw inferences from.

Education via Internet will surely bring down the costs incurred at delivering the material to the students. Additionally, regions which were earlier inaccessible will now benefit from such techniques, which do not have to endure time delays due to logistics hurdles. However, to ensure students get quality material, it is vital for internet service providers (ISPs) to offer cheap bandwidth to such de-centralized locations. MOOC courses like Udacity, Coursera, edX, sure have compelling & potent content that could reshape education & create professionals in a short duration of time.

But the ancillary or support systems like internet & affordable hardware should not act as a last-mile hindrance. What do you think?
