Industrial Designer and Oblivion Concept Artist Daniel Simon’s C-01 Superbike for Lotus+Kodewa

Last time we talked with Daniel Simon, we were at the Autodesk CAVE conference in Las Vegas this past December where he was explaining how he finds inspiration for his futuristic vehicle concept art. Between both his own personal projects and various concept design for films such as Oblivion, Tron, and Captain America, he is far from bored these days. His latest project however brings his signature classic car-meets-spaceship aesthetic to the real world with the C-01 Superbike for Lotus.

A Real Daniel Simon Superbike

In his amazing presentation at the Autodesk CAVE conference, Simon described how he goes about adding actual people to his vehicle concept designs to make them ‘that much more real’. This time around however, he can ditch the complicated photo shoots and Photoshop sessions for real people actually riding his futuristic concepts.

After two years of development at Germany’s Kodewa Performance Motors, the Lotus-branded bike pays homage to Lotus’ rich motoring history with a nod towards the future…something that can only be described as the perfect project for Daniel Simon, as he states::

“The design process of the C-01 was a labour of love, there were many challenges, ensuring that the bike not only touches your visual senses with its timeless blend of classic appeal and modern execution, but that is safe and ergonomically sound was critical to me. We have worked hard to create a motorcycle with very distinctive features such as a clean main body, an extremely low side profile, a bold stance, a unique air intake, logical partline solutions and clean graphics.”

No word yet on the price but since only 100 are in existence, don’t expect to roll up to one at a stoplight anytime soon.
