(Before It's News)

Microsoft announced its new Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) offering, yesterday night. This was Microsoft’s first product launch since Satya Nadella took over as CEO of the company. In his address during the launch, Nadella stressed about how mobile and cloud are the same facets of one. With this view in mind, he said that the solution they have built will cater to organizations and employees who use a diverse number of devices and platforms and keep enterprise information safe and also help increase productivity.

Microsoft says that the EMS is a comprehensive set of tools for an enterprise, especially during these days of cloud and mobile. The suite has 3 key aspects.

1. Identity and Access Management.

It is important for every employee working in an organization to be identified when accessing company information on the whole. Access permissions are also important in this context. This access and identity management are provided by Azure Active Directory Premium.

2. Mobile Device and Application Management.

Many enterprises are concerned by how mobile platforms and apps can make their data vulnerable. Many companies have tried solving this problem by giving their own enterprise solutions. EMS’ mobile management service is powered by Windows Intune.

3. Data protection.

Enterprise data is extremely sensitive in addition to being valuable and should be protected at all costs. Azure AD Rights Management Services, which is already available with Office 365, will help protect enterprise data wherever it is saved on enterprise devices.

The EMS will be available via Enterprise Volume Licensing channels from May 1st onwards. One unique feature about EMS’ pricing is that Microsoft will start charging fees on a per user basis as opposed to per device basis which was followed previously.

In related news, Microsoft has officially launched its Office apps for the iPad, thus bringing the popular productivity tools to a major tablet device. You see office in action in the video below.
