[topic]CHICAGO—Audience members at Chicago’s Civic Opera House gave high praise for Shen Yun Performing Arts.
“I’m interested in fashion and interior design and I think the costumes are exquisite,” said Irma Lee, a retired college administrator.
Bill Stark, a retired engineer, was impressed by the dancers dress and style. “The dance movements were exquisite. I think it’s very nicely done. The costumes are beautiful. I thought the Lotus Leaves dance was particularly beautiful. The Chinese have always fascinated me with their dress and style.”
Shen Yun Performing Arts mission is to reclaim 5,000 years of Chinese culture. Translated the word “Shen Yun” means the grace, compassion and sublime beauty of heavenly realms that are shown by the dancers.
“At the end you had a hope, and I think that’s what we need in this world today is hope. It was very enjoyable! Wouldn’t miss it,” Stark added.
Visiting family members in Chicago, Marie Casey, a consultant in the lottery industry from North Carolina, said she thoroughly loved the show. “I really enjoyed it. I love the dancing, love the spectacle of the costumes, and love the color.”

“Fabulous! It’s very nice!” said Al Peterson, owner of a construction company in Homer Glen, Illinois, of the matinee of Shen Yun Performing Arts on Saturday, April 21.
Mr. Peterson said he found the entire show excellent including, “the costumes, the dancing, and music.”
Mr. Peterson and his wife Phyllis have traveled to China but said Shen Yun is different from the performances they saw there. “It’s more delicate, “ said Phyllis.
Mrs. Peterson was intrigued by the togetherness of the dancers and cited the dance Lotus Leaves as an example.
She praised the Lotus Leaves dance, “What intrigues me the most is how everybody is so in tune, and there isn’t one step out. It is just great! Just great!”
Shen Yun Performing Arts, based in New York, has three touring companies that perform simultaneously around the world, with a mission to revive traditional Chinese culture. Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company will perform in Chicago through April 22.
