So a holiday Monday today…PENTECOST Monday. Yup, I don´t care for civil holidays. Let me explain what this isn´t about.
It isn´t anti-memorial day in the least. In fact, once people learn more about the real root causes of 20th and 21th century war, I hope they will spend a lot time reflecting on the tragedy. It isn´t any kind of disrespect either. One of the first things I wanted to do when I moved to the continent was plan a trip to visit Flanders Field because I felt really concerned about fallen soldiers who came from such a time past that they would no longer really have visitors in the same way. In America I lived near a revolutionary war burial ground and was pleased that the British soldiers still got some English visitors or at least someone was occasionally leaving little union jacks by.
Anyway, I just generally don´t like civil holidays. I feel that they are created to give us a new liturgical year in a national civil religion complete with saints and rites. The worst worst worst offender is obviously Martin Luther King, Jr. day. Ok, lots of Americans would faint if they heard me say that, but probably not you, reader, since you are reading this blog anyway, and it isn´t for dummies, kids, public school graduates, or Anderson Cooper fans. Again, this isn`t disrespecting the work or meaning of the civil rights movement, but rather facing fact that MLK day promotes fascism and dumbed down thinking. Rather than research and reflect critically on a serious moral movement with dozens of important figures, we are asked to elevate one man to god like status. A friend of mine who believes like the opposite of everything I write about here, was complaining to me that in school kids are literally taught that ONE MAN came and SHED HIS BLOOD FOR US. He invented something called ´non-discrimination,´ the end, everything is fine now, obey the president and the television. Primary school kids colour in pictures of MLK. Creepy, actually. This isn´t really against MLK, but rather the way we are are forced to genuflect and show proper reverence. It feels forced and weird and Soviet. In America they put on this huge show of affected solemnity. Yuck. And they use it to push fascism. The president will address you all now. And suggest this be a day of service. aaghh. So now they are using is to push their new pro-slavery agenda. (Careful, careful, everywhere you hear the word service. They are stymied by the 13th ammendment and trying to work around that. Service= NWO agenda to legally bind all of as slaves to the state. It´s not the warm fuzzy word they make you believe.)      Anyway, I don´t like civic holidays but I do respect, even though I am a pacifist and differ on principle,  the men who wanted to protect their homelands and way of life. They were just deceived about who the real enemy was. But imagine if those WWI vets were alive today and knew, they wouldn´t just be complaining anonymously on the interweb, I hope they would stand up with their real names and speak out. Also, imagine what the WWI vets would think about America´s new urgent moral cause: men who fancy men. ha ha ha ha ha.
