Chargers Pro Bowl running back Melvin Gordon has an interesting perspective on the team’s move from San Diego to Los Angeles, James Walker of ESPN.com reports.
“I don’t think we’re going to lose everyone in San Diego,” Gordon told ESPN Friday. “I really don’t think of it like that. I just think of it as we’re on a break — like a relationship. You know? But she’ll be back and we will be back. We will be back together. That’s how I look at it.” That’s a good thought, just like playing casino games at 12bet.
There has been plenty of outrage and backlash from San Diego fans since Chargers owner Dean Spanos decided to relocate to Los Angeles on January 12th after 56 years of being in San Diego.
The primary reason was due to the Chargers being unable to get public funding to build a new stadium to replace Qualcomm Stadium, a stadium that really does need to be updated, but also at the same time was playable for teams around the league. They even have had Super Bowls at the stadium over the years.
Gordon said there is a helpless feeling among Chargers players when it comes to the fans of San Diego.
“We can’t stop it. We can’t help it or help the situation,” Gordon said. “So speaking on it don’t really make the San Diegans feel any better. But we do feel for them to say the least.
“You feel for them, but it’s out of our control. As players, we can’t do anything about it. You got to deal with the cards you’ve been dealt with.”
Gordon is insane to have that feeling that folks are going to embrace the Chargers after leaving the city. Even in Los Angeles with the Rams this season, it was not exactly easy for the Rams to get a huge fan base, as the team wasn’t all that good, and by the end of the year people seemed to be staying away.
The Chargers running back is going to see quite quickly how the fans in Los Angeles react to teams that are not very good. Just ask the Rams players from 2016.
If the Chargers come out and win, people are going to come, and those in San Diego will still feel shunned as they had their team ripped away from them. There’s really no other way to look at it.
Gordon needs to accept that, and move on with the team as it is now in Los Angeles.
