M6.4 earthquake in Taiwan kills 5, topple buildings in Tainan

Magnitude 6.4 very strong earthquake in Taiwan today claimed lives of atleast five people and toppled several buildings in Tainan.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter was located 48 km ESE of Tainan and occurred at 03:57 a.m. Saturday morning, February 6, 2016 (19:57 UTC).
A 16-storey Wei Guan (維冠) residential building on Yongda Road in Tainan City's Yongkang District collapsed during the earthquake. More than 120 people were rescued from the building.
Around 6,000 households in the Yungkang, Shanhua, Kueijen, and Yujing districts are suffering power outage, while some 400,000 households have no water supply.
Taiwan's official Central News Agency reported that bullet trains would not run in southern Taiwan until at least 5 p.m.
Rescue operations in Taiwan
Police and emergency workers have been fighting to rescue people from building in Yongkang District in southern Tainan. Taiwan's military and emergency services have send helicopters and rescue and medical teams to the disater areas. Around 400 people from the military are currently assisting with the disaster relief, Focus Taiwan reported.
According to President Ma Ying-jeou, the government will make an all-out effort to help people hit by earthquake. The armed forces have prepared earthquake shelters in four locations of 1,200 beds for people who lost their homes in the earthquake.
