The condition ratings for Nebraska crops stabilized some last week after several weeks of steady declines.
However, the crops picture is still pretty grim across most of the state.
Only three percent of the state’s corn crop is called excellent, with 32 percent good, 28 percent fair and 37 percent poor to very poor. Irrigated corn rated 56 percent good to excellent, but only four percent of the dryland corn was in the good to excellent categories.
Drought-damaged corn acres continue to be chopped for silage in many sections of the state.
Soybean conditions rate one percent excellent, 21 percent good, 41 percent fair and 37 percent poor to very poor.
Alfalfa conditions rated 66 percent poor to very poor. Pasture and range conditions were 89 percent poor to very poor.
