Renowned hip-hop star, Kanye West, recently announced at the VMA awards that he plans to run for President in 2020.
After accepting an award from Taylor Swift, West said: “It don’t matter though, ’cause it ain’t about me. It’s about ideas, bro. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”
Surprisingly, after being harshly critical of President George W. Bush (he stated that Bush doesn’t care about black people), West recently spoke very positively to Vanity Fair about Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson:
When I run for president, I’d prefer not to run against someone. I would be like “I want to work with you.” As soon as I heard [Ben] Carson speak, I tried for three weeks to get on the phone with him. I was like this is the most brilliant guy.
And I think all the people running right now have something that each of the others needs. But the idea of this separation and this gladiator battle takes away from the main focus that the world needs help and the world needs all the people in a position of power or influence to come together.
