Sen. Rand Paul made some waves during the first presidential debate by mixing it up with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and, to a lesser extent, Donald Trump. This time he has been letting the world know he plans to play the Trump card.
In an interview with the Daily Caller, the candidate said one of his main objectives is “to make sure everyone in the whole country knows he’s a fake conservative,” adding, “I think he deserves both barrels.”
Paul elaborated on other reasons why he feels he must attack Trump on the Kelly File Tuesday night.
“Someone who is calling another candidate ugly, stupid, fat. All the things he had been saying about other people, is that really the kind of person that is going to have diplomacy with the Soviet Union or with China? Is that really the kind of person you want in charge of your nuclear arsenal?” Paul said. “That sort or unrestrained, uncontrolled narcissism is not something you want in charge of your nuclear arsenal,” he argued, echoing the charges Gov. Bobby Jindal made going after Trump’s temperament at the National Press Club last Friday.

Paul also told Kelly that he believes Trump has “reached his crest.” The Fox News host pointed out that while the billionaire candidate sits at the top at 27 percent in the most recent New York Times/CBS poll, Paul is coming in a 2.7 percent, down from 4 percent prior to the first Republican debate.
The senator pointed out in that poll 63 percent said it is still too early to make up their minds who they will be supporting.
As far as debate prep, Paul told CNN on Tuesday on he plans to relax before the debate.
“I will be out shooting target practice in the morning,” he said. “I will be shooting the tax code with some friends tomorrow morning, and that will be my preparation.”
The GOP candidates are slated to meet for the second presidential debate Wednesday night at the Reagan Library near Los Angeles, with the main event starting at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
