The mainstream media is doing its best to delegitimize Ben Carson and his candidacy for president.
Jon Meacham: A presidential campaign cannot simply be this is your life.
Mika Brzezinski: A movie.
Michael: It has to be about our lives. It has to be about the life of the nation. But there has to be a core of substance about what that life story did, means for all of us. And so, simply to run on biography and then on alleged media bias against elements of that biography is not sufficient to be a serious candidate for president of the United States.
Brzezinski: Maybe not for you or me, but apparently he’s doing quite well.
Mark Halperin explained why Dr. Carson and other Republicans are polling so well.
The four top candidates are for fundamentally changing the way our government works. And Dr. Carson is leading that argument as much as anybody else.
So Carson’s bio isn’t enough. Sure, it has to be based on a candidate’s policies. What, then, is Democrat frontrunner Hillary Clinton running on?
Clearly, I’m not asking people to vote for me simply because I’m a woman. I’m asking people to vote for me on the merits, and I think one of the merits is I am a woman.
Is being a woman a “core of substance” that qualifies her to be president?
Don’t you someday want to see a woman president of the United States of America?
