Video: Jenner Takes Stage To Accept ‘Woman Of The Year’, Says Stunning Line About God
Caitlyn Jenner has decided he knows why God put him on earth.
America’s most famous transgendered adult, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, received an award at Glamour magazine’s “Women of the Year” awards on Monday night. During his acceptance speech, Jenner said his decision came after a long inner dialogue with God.
“I sat down with my pastor, talked to him, about my issues. And yes, I had a lot of conversations with God,” Jenner said.
“I came to the conclusion that you know what, maybe this is why God put me on this earth,” Jenner said. “To tell my story. To be authentic to myself about who I am and in doing that, maybe you can make a difference in the world. And I’m very happy to be living on the other side.”
Although others have invoked God’s name in discussing Jenner, their conclusions often differ with his.
“You are who you are when God made you, not who you became after He did,” rapper Waka Flocka Flame said in September. “That’s how I feel. You rebuking God, man. God didn’t put them feelings in you. That is the devil playing tricks on your mind, that’s a test from God. If you can’t out-beat that one task and you believe that, then you’re going to believe everything else and you’re going down that way.”
Hip-hop and spoken word artist Jackie Hill-Perry, who admitted to gender identity issues before her marriage, said changing what God created comes down to pride.
“When God is involved, now it’s a bigger deal. He created your body,” she said. “He sovereignly allows you to be male or female, so for you to go against Him is an eternal issue. He created your body, so you don’t have the right to say, ‘I can do with it whatever I want.’ That’s the most prideful thing you can do because it’s an attack on the wisdom of God.”
In the controversy over Jenner’s gender, the Rev. Franklin Graham put his finger on one critical point.
“Changing the outside doesn’t change the inside. No man-made modification can fix what’s wrong with the heart. Only God can fix the human heart. If we ask for His forgiveness and accept by faith His Son, Jesus Christ, He will wipe the slate clean,” he wrote on Facebook.
