When talking about tourist destinations in Europe, the cities we have in mind are usually Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Dublin, Monte Carlo, Nice and other well known cities famous for their architecture, cultural and historical significance. But there are also cities that are not mentioned very often in the tourists’ brochures. These cities are definitely underrated, but nevertheless they should be visited because they have a lot to offer.

Bruges, Belgium

Not many tourists see Belgium as their destination. But Belgium, especially Bruges can offer many things from sightseeing to a famous Belgian beer. Bruges is located in the northwest of the country in the Flemish region. The medieval architecture is somehow intact. The Church of Our Lady, The Provinciaal Hof, The Basilica of Holy Blood, and The Saint Salvator’s Cathedral must be seen when you are in Bruges. There are also some festivals that you might want to visit such as Blues in Bruges, September Jazz Festival, Burgrock and other music festivals, then there is the NAFT (the theatre festival), Choco-Late (the festival of famous Belgian chocolate), Cinema Novo (the movie festival) and of course the beer festival known as BAB bierfestival. There are many pubs and taverns where you can try out various types of beer and where you can have fun.

When talking about France as a destination, the first thing to think about is, of course, Paris. But France can offer many more beautiful cities and one of them is certainly Lyon. Lyon is situated in east central France and it is the second largest metropolitan area in France. Lyon has beautiful architectural sights, buildings and museums and widely known opera house. Lyon is often called the gastronomical capital of Europe. In Lyon, you can find some of the famous restaurants with the best chefs in Europe. The great cuisine may be considered a trademark of this lovely city. It is best to see Lyon by night, when almost all the sights are illuminated. But Lyon offers more than just outstanding architecture, monuments and museums. This city has a very lively nightlife with many bars, pubs and places where you can enjoy drinks, dancing and making new friends from all over not just Europe, but also from the entire world.

Bratislava, Slovakia

Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and the largest city in this country. This city is situated in southwestern Slovakia and it offers many spectacular buildings, palaces and medieval towers mainly concentrated in the Old Town. The most know castles of Bratislava are Devin Castle and Bratislava Castle. Bratislava is formed under different cultural influences, Celts, Romans, German, Hungarians and those influences created the architectural differences in Bratislava. Bratislava is a host of many festivals including the festival of historical fencing, music and crafts that is held in the magnificent settings of Devin Castle. At night Bratislava becomes Partyslava. There are many clubs that have great parties, bars and discotheques where you can a lot of fun and great time.

Belgrade, Serbia

Belgrade is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It is situated in the South-Eastern Europe, on the Balkans. There are two rivers, Sava and Danube, on whose confluence Belgrade is situated. Belgrade is the center of art and culture of Serbia. There are many monuments, museums and sights that have the status of national assets. There is the famous Kalemegdan fortress with the famous monument Statue of Victory (that is considered to be the symbol of Belgrade), Avala TV Tower and newly built Ada Bridge, and these are just some of the sights you must see. There are also the National Museum, Academy of Art, Museum of Nikola Tesla, Museum of Ivo Andric, Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment and other cultural institutions. Belgrade is also famous for its kafanas where you can enjoy delicious domestic cuisine, plum brandy known as slivovitza, and cozy atmosphere followed by the bands that play Serbian etno music. If you prefer parting and clubbing, Belgrade is certainly the place for you. There are many floating river clubs known as splavovi, bars and discotheques with parties that end up early in the morning. Many foreigners come to Belgrade because of its nightlife.
