The enormous size of the Lollipop update will eat up more space of the internal storage of the device. You will also need to free up around 3 GB of memory on your internal storage to install the update. The large size of the update is because of the new ART runtime. It compiles your apps the first time you boot your phone and stores the result, which where those 950MB go. Dalvik had an app cache too, but that was smaller.

Now, because of the huge size of the update it is being expected that Samsung would have removed some pre-loaded apps from the device like Google Playbooks, Google Movies, etc. This could be possible because, recently, it came into news that Samsung is getting rid of most of the unnecessary pre-loaded applications on its Galaxy S6 in order to make its Touch Wiz UI smoother. The new Android Lollipop update will bring some new features to the Galaxy S4. These new features include new lock-screen, heads-up notifications; new redesigned interface inspired by the material design and enhanced performance. We’re hoping that the new update would bring make the Galaxy S4 a smoother device to use. It would provided a better and more user friendly interface. We really hope so because it is not the device which is slow it is the software. It always has been the Touch Wiz User Interface of Samsung which has also been criticized for sluggish performance.
