After a long wait, renowned tech giant LG has unveiled its latest flagship, the LG G5 at MWC 2016. The new handset launched by the company sports an all-metal body and incorporates some intuitive upgrades over LG G4 and previous members of G family. It features a dual-camera setup on the rear, and ships with an expandable module for upgrading battery and camera as per user requirements. LG revealed in depth specs of the G5, but it did not mention anything about the pricing, availability or bundled accessories of the handset.
However, as for specifications, the LG G5 features a 5.3-inch Quad-HD (1440×2560 pixels) display with always on display technology. The handset flaunts a spectacular visual experience with small pieces of information in screen off mode, and powers up by Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 820 SoC with 4GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt storage, and Adreno 530 GPU. It also includes a microSD card slot for expanding storage up to 2TB using an external microSD card.
As far as camera capabilities are concerned, LG G5 stands out in the category with a unique 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel dual rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Out of the two rear cameras, the 16-megapixel shooter comes with laser autofocus and standard 78-degree wide angle lens, while the second one ships with a 135-degree wide angle lens, which helps a lot in capturing wider and taller snaps without stepping away from the subject. In addition to this, LG also offers support for capturing 4K videos without snags or performance issues.
In terms of connectivity, the LG G5 pairs up with a slew connectivity options such as, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, 3G, NFC and USB Type-C 2.0 port. It delivers blazing download and upload speeds, and integrates a snappy fingerprint scanner with the home-button featured right below the rear camera setup.
Last but definitely not the least, LG G5 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the box and powers up by a long-lasting 2800 mAh battery. This time, the UI doesn’t include an app-drawer, which according to LG, will make the entire user-experience simpler than ever before. Overall, LG G5 brings an ideal package for high-end users, especially with its expandable module offering longer battery life with a much improved camera and music experience.
