A man threw black ink on the face of Baba Ramdev on Saturday at a press conference at the Constitutional Club in New Delhi, where he was addressing on his plans to campaign against black money and corruption in the coming assembly elections. The attack reportedly left his right eye blackened. The ink was thrown when he was seated with the Chief of Janata Party, Mr. Subramanian Swamy at the club.
The attacker was caught and badly beaten up by supporters of Baba Ramdev. He was slapped repeatedly and bled from the mouth. The man has been identified as Kamran Yunus Siddiqui, a resident of Delhi’s Zakir Nagar. He is running an NGO named “Real Cause” – which is a petitioner in the Batla House encounter case.
The offender claimed that he was sent by BJP leaders, but the BJP rubbished the claim and said the man was using the name of party for publicity.
After the incident, the Baba Ramdev told, “We had asked for black money and we got black ink, but this incident will not affect me. We will continue to fight against the odds.” Yoga guru urged for peace and told black ink cannot stain the character of a person who is fighting for the India.
