To the Editor :
I don`t know why Obama is so upset with the actions of Syria. He wanted a United States that the world did not percieve as a threat but, as a friend to everyone. He is now stuck with the very government he wished for & built with unicorns, rainbows & butterflies. The world does not respect it under his leadership.
However, the flip-side of this is he is inadvertently & unintenionally giving us back our Constitutional Republic which does not waste trillions of taxpayer dollars on foreign wars meddling in the internal affairs of sovereign nations around the globe. Yes there are bad people in the world, always has been & always will be.
Nowhere in our U.S. Constitution does it give us the authority to police the worlds bad guys unless of course they make the mistake of attacking us. Our first president George Washington & the founding fathers warned us to attend to the affairs of our own country & citizens & let everyone else exercise the same freedoms in their countries.
Many, many wars later with millions of American servicemen dead & a depleted treasury afew Americans are starting to grasp the constitutional concept the founders put forth to ensure that we at home could live happy, prosperous, carefree lives without the problems & worries of an ungrateful world on our shoulders.
We have had our watch as the world`s policeman protecting the rest of the world to our country`s detriment. I suggest that areas like Europe which have a greater combined G.N.P. than our own use that money to invest in a world class military & start providing their own protection.
The free ride at our expense is over. We can no longer afford to baby-sit you. We should never have had to. With our absence you can either fill this void & provide for your own protection or suffer the consequences if a bad guy fills it. The choice is yours to make.
